My olympus T-110 has stopped going to take pictures. HELP?

I have a Olympus T-110 digital camera and something has happened to it in the past 1hr where it has just stopped turning on. I press the on button and the lens will come out and be uncovered but then the camera will beep twice and turn off but the lens will stay open. However when I press the view picture button to turn it on it comes straight to the view screen if i try to go to the picture taking screen from there it will turn its self off again but keep the lens on. At the moment i can only view the picture screen. I have put it on charge hoping that it is just a battery problem but I have a feeling it is more than that. What will fix it? Help.
