One sided relationship?

My boyfriend and I have been together for almost a year..By far, he's the best man I've had in my life..He's wonderful. But.....when we have our disagreements, he's quick to defend himself instead of listening. I'm more of a "let's talk about the issue and resolve it together" person, but his answers are always "whatever you say", because he claims I want things my way. So,this past disagreement, I told him that this time, I not doing the chasing nor contacting..When he's ready to talk and come to a mutual agreement, he knows how to reach me. My question is, should I carry things as if I'm single or wait? I want us to work but my patience is very thin and I have zero tolerance for bullshit that can easily be resolved. I chose to turn off my cell for a few days only because with me not associating myself with too many people in this new state, I tend to call him. So, I figure the space (for me) is much needed. Got to get in the habit of chilling alone if you feel me..
